is designed to play

light / soft jazz

background music

for small parties. 

Gino leads the way by playing clarinet, flute & saxophone and sings too!  He assisted by piano and string bass.  We are schooled musicians, excellent sight readers of sheet music, and we also play by ear. We are trained to play that great music that you want to hear!

 

            As leader of “Gino’s JAZZ TRIO,” Gino can play several roles. Besides playing horns & rhythm instruments while singing songs and entertaining as needed, Gino coordinates the activities by being the master of ceremony.  Each activity has its own

care and handling with the appropriate music to meet the situation.   For example, during cocktails or dinner “the mood” might warrant soft listening music, formally titled, “Incidental Music.”  Depending on the needs of the party, our performance style ranges from low profile to high energy.  Below are techniques we use to play your favorite music and at just the right volume.

Techniques & Volume

1.        INCIDENTAL MUSIC easy listening jazz: Piano plays melodies and jazz with string bass accompaniment. Gino plays rhythm instruments – low profile.

2.                 SOUNDS  GREAT  “standards” swing-upbeat / requests / song list provided.  The music features Gino playing clarinet and flute.  The piano & string bass accompany Gino in a traditional jazz format with plenty of improvization.

3.                 CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES  ballroom dance steps along with more current music: The volume increases while Gino switches to tenor saxophone and cuts the way for those who may want to dance. (NOTE: parties requiring dancing, it is suggested that a drummer be added to the group to gain “dance-beat energy.”)

4.                 BALANCED SOUND “Gino’s JAZZ TRIO” is by nature a soft music ensemble.  We generally do not need a microphone or public address system.  That means our volume is just above voice level.  By using the flute, clarinet, and tenor saxophone as measuring tools for sound and balance, our volume is balanced according to the acoustics of the room we are playing. 

ABOUT  THE MUSICIANS

The pianist is the core to our music. The piano sounds smooth and light as a feather. The piano style is diverse, able to play beautiful melodies and plenty of jazz licks

.

The bassist is the foundation or root of the  

music and determines the depth of the sound. 

The bass solidifies rhythm & the key of music.

You have a choice between

String Bass or Electic Bass

Due to the traditional role of the

String Bass in the JAZZ COMBO,

String Bass is the bass of choice.

 

As Leader, Gino directs the music,

to include the style, dynamics, and nuances.

As discussed above with techniques & volume, 

Gino sets the tone for the music.

“Gino’s JAZZ TRIO” encourages requests.  Being highly trained professionals, we carry “fake books” that contain 1000s of standard music titles.  With our outstanding sight-reading skills, we usually can sight read these lead sheets on the gig.  There is very little we can’t perform, especially with advance notice and a copy of the requested sheet music.  We pride ourselves in knowing all the tunes. If your favorite music is not on our list, we will learn your first choice at no extra cost to you.  We play the great music you want to hear!
